The removal of ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ answers from Calculus has provided a more level playing-field that has allowed people of every ethnicity to succeed. In understanding how variables work and how they make people feel, Asians, Whites, Blacks, and Hispanics have found a qualitative understanding of Calculus that is valuable beyond the classroom. This integrated and more human approach has already shown countless students the power of numbers and variables. Let it do the same for you!
The US-Czech Alliance: Built to Last
The US and the Czech Republic have had a rocky alliance history, but since the defeat of Communism the two states have grown closer together. Despite the radical asymmetry in size and power, since 1989 the Czech Republic has been a valuable ally to the United States.
Remaining Awake
Perhaps the most interesting perspective on the concept of Remaining Awake came from Ziad Munson, adjunct professor of Sociology and Anthropology: “For me, being awake is making sure that we – this generation and the next generation – are well educated. We have to look at K-12 and that needs to be revised, because, at that level, if we continue to do a terrible job, then we might not see our position improve.”
A Diverse Opinion
The good news is that the CEC doesn’t discriminate – it sees racism in every single person at Lehigh. Students need more classes that explain diversity and a curriculum that works those classes into a student’s schedule. Faculty members need a “Social Justice Leadership and Service Learning” seminar. For the Administration, the CEC will be meeting with the deans “to identify plans in place to diversify the faculty and retain underrepresented personnel” and to print a “diversity statement” on all recruitment and application materials. Clearly, future students are racist too.
Poetry Princess Fit for a King
As she was a humorous woman, I am still not sure whether Giovanni was kidding when she claimed at one point during the lecture to have a tattoo on her arm reading “Thug Life,” which she had supposedly gotten to honor the late rapper Tupac. Her spunky personality, as exemplified by the tattoo, had won me over so much that I almost didn’t mind when she referred to the bus driver who had Rosa Parks arrested by the racial slur “cracker.”
A Matter of Endowment
Lehigh University itself has not had such ill effects as other universities, though efforts have been made to further diversify Lehigh University’s investment portfolio to make some attempt to dampen the effects of the economy on its endowment fund. Lehigh University has enjoyed the benefits of an endowment fund growing to $1.1 billion in 2007 from just $513 million ten years previous.
Undue Resistance
Building upon their success, Students for Obama invited Kal Penn, a crude humorist and Indian-American actor to spread then-Senator Barack Obama’s pandemic maxim of change. Penn, speaking during the Diwali cultural show, challenged students to “vote for change.”
On October 28th of last year, the Global Union sponsored a program entitled “Who Would the World Vote for?” This grossly partisan event concluded that the pariah and peddler of change, now-President Obama, would be the optimal choice from a so-called global perspective.
Inaugural Inconsistencies
The first and most glaring difference was the crowd. The crowd for President Obama’s inauguration was incredibly large. The plan was for my friend and I to go to the northernmost stop of the D.C. Metro and ride the train all the way into the city. This plan was foiled, however, when we saw a two-mile backup onto I-95 South just to park at the train station.
