Mike,
You took both of my quotes out of context. Specifically, the second quote was discussing how they should have handled the situation from the start. Because the administration did send out a campus-wide email, and made the incident an issue, we should be told more than that an unknown symbol was found in an unknown elevator by an unknown Lehigh employee.

My contention that the two events are related does not suggest a conspiracy theory. There are many ways that the events could be linked to each other. We don't know enough about the event to say for sure. But when a campus doesn't have any 'incidents' for 11 months, and then President Gast sends out a controversial email about her desire to hire a CDO, and three days later you have an 'incident' then there is a connection. The connection does not imply anything about who actually drew the symbol, but a connection does exist. That connection could be (and indeed probably is) as simple as President Gast over-blowing the finding of a swastika because the event does help her case for a CDO. That's logical action - not a conspiracy theory.

I will not be addressing your last paragraph, as it includes illogical posits about what I would say in response to a terrorist attack on campus, grammatical errors, and personal attacks. Have a good day.

"As adult members of the Lehigh community, we deserved to be given as many details as possible about the incident"

"The University should clearly pursue disciplinary action if they find out who did it. But doing so quietly would have been the best approach."

Nice Contradiction, and for the best - a conspiracy theory to boot - "But the two events are simply too close on a timeline to not be related to each other"

You ought to be ashamed of yourself for writing an article attacking a hate crime. If somebody blew up the Hillel House or the Multicultural house it would be a terrorist act and you'd accuse Gast of not doing enough to ensure safety, but now you accuse her/the administration of conspiring to promote their agenda. I hope you spend more time on you class work than you do on your journalism.

William,
That is not at all my contention. I am arguing that she is using current events to further her own agenda. Quite opposite your suggestion, such action is rational even if it is misguided. Please refrain from unsubstantiated ad hominem attacks in the future.
