Sarah Failin’ Case #001
As a service to both conservatives and liberals, the Patriot is proud to provide accurate commentary on some individuals who position themselves as Conservative thinkers but are, in fact, anything but. One of those polarizing figures is Sarah Palin, or “Failin” if you prefer.
While Palin is idolized by an undue number of conservatives, the blunt truth is that this woman rarely has any idea what she is talking about. Despite that this has been demonstrated virtually any time she talks, some people still refuse to admit that she is a walking disaster.
So, while we will eventually get around to detailing some of her past displays of incompetency, we thought we should begin with a current one, to be labeled Case #001 by the Lehigh Patriot. This is Palin answering a question at the Tea Party Convention about how Congress should change.
In this clip, Palin says that elected U.S. leaders ought to become “god fearing” again, and “ask for divine inspiration” to help make the U.S. safe and prosperous again.
As effective as that may be, this is a woman positioning herself for a run at the White House, and her answer to our problems is to ask her American God to give us some miracles to solve health care, immigration, deficits, unemployment, excessive taxation and Middle East turmoil?
Better yet, pictures taken during the event show she was reading off of her hand while answering the question, and photos taken by the AP clearly show the notes on her hand. That brings us to a quick session of “Life Lessons with Sarah Palin.”
How to answer questions from the “Gotch-ya” Media by Sarah Palin

If Palin used notes to identify the three things this country should do to improve, we may finally have an answer to how she finally received her degree in communications. For those who don’t know, it took Palin almost six years at four different colleges to eventually obtain her degree in communications finally from the University of Idaho. Based on these revelations, it seems the University of Idaho should investigate whether or not Palin used this technique during some of her exams.

Ben, I would chastise you for being captain obvious, but this is just too much fun.
Between the cheating and the superstitious dimwittery, I can’t get enough of how low the ultra-right wing (symbolized by SP) is willing to set the bar.
Oh, and as for the idea that “hey, we can make mistakes, so let’s rely on God to save us”? Remove the airbags out of your car and don’t wear a seatbelt on your way to your next Teabagger Convention. I get the feeling you trust the scientists (you know, the elitist idiots who don’t believe in Genesis) more than you let on.
The hypocrisy of fundamentalism is staggering.
one of her biggest gaffs was speaking in glowing terms of pres. reagan while ranting about energy/oil independence. reagan reversed the carter energy policies that would surely have moved us fairly far toward independence. reagan is noted for arrogantly and quickly having solar panels taken off the whitehouse roof.
germany has subsidized a solar panel industry which is revolutionizing their country and creating many jobs. there are now solar panels even on the roadsides.
after reagan removed the tax benefit for windmills denmark bought windmill tech. developed here under carter and has become the 3rd largest producer of mills in the world. the copenhagen harbor is ringed with mills.
Jafar, I’m surprised at you: teabaggers? The group has never called themselves this and this is just a childish derogatory term. And why did you just decide to take another pot shot at Christians?
On the point of the article, Palin’s role for the next 20 years will be fundraising for candidates. She’ll make a lot of people rich, including herself. She’s not suitable for president at this point. She may never be ready. She may just be stupid, but she was apparently a great governor before she ran for vice president (it helps having a friend in Alaska to inform me of this) but sucked afterwards.
Jafar, the allure of Palin is down to earth-ed-ness. It’s what attracted a lot of people to Obama initially, but that’s kind of been shown to be false since.
As I said, her role will be campaigning by giving 10 minute stump speeches for candidates. Grassroots fundraising because the little people will contribute to the people she stumps for.
Remember, she’s the reason McCain didn’t lose by double digits.
And if you really want to go after her for three things written on her hand, I really think you need to go after Obama for not being able to string a sentence together without his teleprompter. CNN tried to say they were the same, but they’re not.
She’s an idiot for using the words “common sense” or “common-sensical” like every three seconds. Glenn Beck got sick after awhile, for God’s sakes.
There’s a reason she’s not at CPAC this year.
But excluding the crazies, like the birthers, I like the tea party movement.
Now, I really don’t see why people, especially conservatives, get so pissed at her for invoking God. I can understand liberal atheists getting pissed at it, but I don’t understand why conservatives get mad at it. Freedom of religion?
Aren’t we the ideology of traditional (Judeo-Christian) moral values?
w.t.: if you think that pres. obama is incapable of stringing together a sentence without a teleprompter you are swallowing an untruth. if you don’t believe me all you have to do is tune into one of the many times that he is interviewed or submitting to questions in various situations. his answers are excellent and coherent.
it’s my understanding that palin had very serious problems as governor including several legal ones that drove her from office.
the only thing wrong with her “hand writing” was that she wasn’t comfortable being herself and carrying actual notecards. all this while portraying herself as so super authentic.
lou, they tend to be empty rhetoric. They’re articulate, I’ll give him that, but they’re usually long, dithering answers void of any substance. That’s what his campaign was: hope, change, and “yes we can” meant virtually nothing, but he built pretty much his entire campaign on those three phrases. That’s Sal Alinsky’s teaching for ya!
Read up: about 17 ethics complaints were lodged against her (due to a loophole in the law in Alaska, all ethics complaints filed must be investigated) and all of them were thrown out. She accumulated $500,000 in legal debt. Turns out, that same loophole has no punishment for filing false ethics charges, so they kept coming.
Carrying notecards = being comfortable being yourself? What now?
Thode:
**Saul Ailinsky
As a side note, “Rules for Radicals” was mandatory reading at my conservative activism conference last year. We were all provided a complementary copy.
Please stop lifting your talking points from that walking aborted fetus we call Glenn Beck. Or, at least spell their names correctly.
Incidentally, my understanding as to why Palin used the hand/notecard thing surrounded a mockery of Obama’s teleprompter use. I didn’t read these comments thorough, and I don’t recall if that was mentioned, but I feel that it is a prudent point to be raised.
Sarah’s not that bright, but she’s not that stupid, either.
Trevor,
Palin made absolutely no mention of the notes, and it was clearly not meant to be uncovered. She has not made any statement since about the incident. The notes were clearly used to keep remember her talking points. There is no evidence attributed from herself or anyone else that it was done to mock President Obama.
I heard of Sal Ailinsky well before I heard it from Beck. I read, ya know? It was mentioned in like every single one of the anti-Obama books that came out in the summer before the election. Change was a central teaching of Sal, just the word, to use in campaign. Because it means nothing. People pick what they want it to mean and the right kind of politician *cough liberal cough* will never have to explain what it means.
Drummond, I know you don’t like Beck, but I’d like to know why. I mean, I can explain in a 10 page dissertation why I don’t like Olbermann. Or Ed Schultz. Or Michael Savage. Or Hannity. Coming from a guy who waited 7 hours to see Limbaugh speak, you don’t have much ground to stand on (I’ll be watching Beck from the comfort of a hotel room.) Limbaugh is clearly worse than Beck.
Ben, she actually did. She had “Hi Mom” written on her hand the next day, I believe.
The “Hi Mom” was to cover the situation as best she could once the news broke.
In neither her speech or her interview did she make any mention or explanation of the notes on her hand. Had her purpose been to mock Obama, then it would only make sense to point that out, which she did not do.
I will provide my rationale behind my Beck hate at CPAC, but in the interim, please spell Saul Alinsky correctly.
Sal is probably the person who cleans your dishes at Rathbone. Saul was a professor activist.
w.t. my point was that obama does fine without a teleprompter. you turned the discussion to your inability to comprehend what he says.
Nice, lou, an attack on my intelligence. When he goes into at least a three paragraph dissertation to answer the simple question if he supports the straight-line veto, I take pause. See, for me, that’s a really simple answer. It’s either yes or no with maybe a sentence or two explanation for reasoning behind the decision. Not three paragraphs of nothing and then ending with a “maybe.”
He doesn’t really say anything but looks good saying it.
Good, Trevor, explain Beck and then explain Limbaugh. Because although I am a fan of Beck, I’m not wasting my only full day at CPAC waiting to see him.
If you guys want, I could craft the game you’ll play while you watch the speech. I know his common phrases enough.
And apparently, you like Saul, Trevor.
And, for the record, as a political leader, Palin is crap. She’s not an idiot, but rather a light weight. She should just stump for candidates to raise money for them.
It took me an hour interview with Glenn Beck to fully realize this. Even he got annoyed by her constant use of “common sense.”
The tea party movement is a truely democratic force and liberals are doing themselves a disservice by mocking it. They should instad go after the anti-intellectualism and demagoguic leadership that is soon to be it’s undoing.
Will, real issues are more complicated than can be answered with a yes or no. If they were simple and obvious, there’d be no disagreement. To say Obama’s long winded is insufficient. You must prove he could be more concise by restating his message in fewer words without losing nuance, or address him point by point and prove him wrong.
Yes, I said a couple sentence explanation is fine, but not three paragraphs for something that simple and just end in a “maybe.”
Anti-intellectualism? You do realize one of its biggest supporters in the media uncovered videos that forced at least two White House officials to resign?
I could do that, serious cat, but the problem is that would take hours of time I don’t wish to waste. A few key examples, on policy points important to me (like the straight-line veto,) is all I really wish to spend my time on.
I feel like rush Limbaugh has done more to embarrass the republican party than Palin will ever be able to do.
Rush Limbaugh never held elected office as a Republican.
And what damage has he done? I’d surmise that Michael Savage and Alex Jones (both purely insane) have done more damage. Hell, Mark Sanford has done more damage than Limbaugh.
