Excellent article. Thank you. As an alum and long-time resident of Bethlehem (from 2 until 22), I believe you represented the city well. One point of uncertainty though: I was under the impression that Lehigh's schedule was not due to students who worked for BS, but that when BS, which employed a full 1/3 of Bethlehem at one point, changed shifts, the streets would become unbearably clogged, and so BS and Lehigh arranged to stagger their class and shift schedules. I could be wrong though.

Peter Green '06 (and former VRWC/Patriot writer!)

Hey, remember when Chi Phi brothers went straight to the Lehigh Patriot to get the real story out after they got kicked out of their house? Oh...wait. They didn't. Because the Patriot doesn't matter. So, they went to the ever-so-hated The Brown and White. You know, because it doesn't matter, yet gets the facts straight.

Clearly The Brown and White NEVER covers controversial issues. Hasn't it printed stories on racial tension? Nope. Not controversial at all.

I am the "T-Shirt guy", the only one in team excitement as of the 2009-10 year. Yes, this is my job and I understand the irony but we are not paid fans. I would be at the games anyway and have attended every home football game (except one pacing break game) and most away games with the band over my 4 years here.

If you've been to a professional or semi-pro baseball game, don't they have the folks throwing out hot dogs and t-shirts? that's what this is, not paying to put people in seats.

Oddly enough, the biggest drawback to the position is I have other responsibilities that keep me from watching the game as much as a normal fan. The position was created to help incite excitement much like cheerleaders but also to help coordinate the different groups like cheerleaders, the band, and even the hawks nest. The latter function didn't take shape this past, inaugural, year as one person alone can't really do all that at once but in the future with more involved (the position is really aimed at a max of 15 but preferably more like 5-6 students) along with seeing what works and what doesn't, the position is very analogous to the sports marketing jobs at professional events.
