Thom, I in no way slammed the article. I expressed reservations I had on it and that's all. I didn't make any big criticisms of it.

These suggestions are in no way to be taken seriously. The purpose of this piece was to show how Obama's jobs plan is no better than a sarcastic senseless plan for jobs.

I love when Willy Thode slams an article because it means it's just that bad.

1. Yes, let's force the poor and disadvantaged into modern day slavery to rebuild the country. And the federal government is paying the "draftees" a livable wage while also paying for all the projects necessary to keep them busy? Where is the FREE MARKET in all of this?

2. Even though you may be half right here, your justification is misguided. You ignore the harm that drug prohibition causes to the poor/minorities who can't afford legal representation and are more frequently targeted by the police. Gambling? Sure. Prostitution? Please explain in detail how you plan to regulate this.

3. Take an economics class other than ECO 001 with Gunter and come back to me.

4. You can't be serious. Let's hope you never come upon bad times and need your child to sell their organs to put food on the table.

5. Sure, but oil is still a finite resource that many believe is past its "peak." Increasing domestic drilling will decrease incentives to invest in alternative energy sources and would make little difference in our energy independence in the long term.

6. Partially true, except that the FREE MARKET has been hesitant to invest in nuclear without significant subsidies by BIG GOVERNMENT.

I can't tell if this entire article is completely serious or not. I'll leave that to others to decide.

I have reservations about a few of these items, but I agree with some of them in theory (but maybe not in the way you see fit to practice them.)

All good suggestions except for perhaps #2. I particularly like "drafting the Unemployed" as opposed to continuing to extend unemployment compensation to encourage people to sit on their ass rather then get back in the workplace.
